His art is in the permanent collection of the US Navy Seabee Museum in Port Hueneme, CA.  Includes an 8’ mural that was brought back from base chapel in the Philippines, and a large oil on canvas (58 x 31.75”) on exhibit in the World War II Pacific Theater Gallery.

From AskArt:

Born:  Elgin, Illinois 1914
Died:  River Forest, Illinois  1994

George Coggeshall was a commercial artist in the Chicago area for over 35 years, illustrating and designing highly realistic renderings of people, food, and products to be reproduced for printed point of purchase displays, publications, and large decals for store windows and doors.

Coggeshall's subjects, media choices and artistic interests varied greatly. He painted realistic murals and watercolors of locations, people, and troops in the Pacific in the Philippines and New Guinea during the Second World War.  One of his large murals was brought back from the Philippines and hangs in the National SeaBee Museum in California.

Returning to Chicago, after the war, he continued art studies at the American Academy of Art and Mizen Art Academy in Chicago and studied with artists Fritz Blank and Mr. Montgomery as well as taking studio classes at the Oak Park- River Forest Art League.
