David Dunlop has been a faculty member at the Silvermine School of Art in Norwalk, Connecticut since 1993 and serves currently on their board of directors. His work is nationally known and featured in many prominent collections throughout the country. He uses painting techniques dating back to the old masters of the Renaissance, frequently employing a 14th century method of painting on gold leaf.  This method seduces the viewer with a glowing luminescence.  His work animates spaces with superb composition and a scintillating contemplative quality.

David received his Masters of Fine Arts degree from the Pratt Institute, New York, NY, studied Post-Graduate printmaking at the R. Blackburn Studio, New York, NY, and received his Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree (Phi Beta Kappa) from the College of Wooster, Wooster, OH. 

His awards include: The Razooks Award for Painting, Juried Show, Greenwich, CT; 1st Prize for Drawing, Juried Show, Greenwich, CT; Eder Bros. Foundation Award, New Haven Paint & Clay Club, New Haven, CT; Best in Show (Watercolor), Juried Show, The City of Fairfield, CT; Purchase Award, Juried Show, The City of Fairfield, CT; Judge's Award, New Haven Paint & Clay Club, New Haven, CT; Grand Prize & Purchase Award, Milford Fine Arts Council, Milford, CT; and Winner of CT Painters' & Sculptors' Annual, Stamford Museum, Stamford, CT.

Dunlop was recently featured in an article in US News and World Report, as well as in a feature article in The New York Times.  He illustrated the book Tidewaters of the Connecticut River ­ An Explorer¹s Guide to Hidden Coves and Marshes,  published by Rivers End Press.  Television producer Connie Stevens is making a video series on his class, "How to Paint a Really Good Landscape," with a projected television series in development.He has created a selection of instructional DVDs on the topic of acrylic, watercolor and oil painting.  Dunlop is also working with PBS on a pilot project offering art history and instruction. He has lectured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and conducted plein-air workshops in the Carolinas and New England.  He served as visiting instructor at the Shelburne Museum in Vermont, the Southern Vermont Art Center, the Round Tops Art Center in Maine, and the Silvermine Guild Art Center in Connecticut.

Dunlop's work can be found in many corporate and municipal collections including:   City of Milford CT; City of Fairfield CT; Office of the Governor, State of Missouri; U.S. Department of State.

Buyer pays shipping and handling costs. Items eligible for in-house shipping will be marked as such on the catalog entry for the item. Large items and certain high value items we do not ship and a third party shipping company will need to be used. We can refer you to several local 3rd party shipping companies.

 

For items eligible for in-house shipping, within 1-3 days of the auction ending, you will receive by email an invoice with the balance for your auction item(s) and a shipping quote from our in-house shipping department. If you agree to our shipping quote, you can pay the invoice online and the item will be packed and shipped within 5-10 business days for most items. If you do not agree to our shipping quote, we can refer you to one of our 3rd party shipping partners. International orders (outside of Canada) will be considered on a case by case basis whether in-house shipping will be offered.  Local orders will not have a shipping quote included on their invoice.

 

For in-house shipping, our fees include all packaging time and materials, handling, insurance and freight charges unless otherwise noted. Shipping costs are calculated on dimensional weight. The costs to ship may exceed the value of the item(s). You can contact us before a sale to request a shipping estimate, the estimate might be slightly more or less than the final cost. Packages shipped to multi-unit addresses or those valued at $200 or more will require signature confirmation. For international shipping, buyer is responsible for all customs fees, import taxes, VAT, duties and any other fee associated with the purchase.
