David Dunlop has been a faculty member at the Silvermine School of Art in Norwalk, Connecticut since 1993 and serves currently on their board of directors. His work is nationally known and featured in many prominent collections throughout the country. He uses painting techniques dating back to the old masters of the Renaissance, frequently employing a 14th century method of painting on gold leaf. This method seduces the viewer with a glowing luminescence. His work animates spaces with superb composition and a scintillating contemplative quality.
David received his Masters of Fine Arts degree from the Pratt Institute, New York, NY, studied Post-Graduate printmaking at the R. Blackburn Studio, New York, NY, and received his Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree (Phi Beta Kappa) from the College of Wooster, Wooster, OH.

Television producer Connie Stevens is making a video series on his class, "How to Paint a Really Good Landscape," with a projected television series in development.He has created a selection of instructional DVDs on the topic of acrylic, watercolor and oil painting. Dunlop is also working with PBS on a pilot project offering art history and instruction. He has lectured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and conducted plein-air workshops in the Carolinas and New England. He served as visiting instructor at the Shelburne Museum in Vermont, the Southern Vermont Art Center, the Round Tops Art Center in Maine, and the Silvermine Guild Art Center in Connecticut.
